Rex Gonzalez,

With a baseball career spanning nearly 30 years as both a player and coach, Rex Gonzalez has a built a reputation for success that is well-known throughout Arizona and nationwide. As the head coach of the T-Rex Baseball Club, Rex has consistently proven the effectiveness of his coaching philosophy, with two drafted players and over 30 student athletes receiving scholarships to play collegiate baseball in the past two years.

Growing up in Tampa, Florida, Rex was surrounded by baseball from an early age. His father, "Red," founded the Bay West Umpires Association, making Rex no stranger to the baseball fields. After graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1989, Rex played college baseball at Faulkner State and the University of South Alabama. Rex went on to play professionally for the Mobile Bay Sharks (Texas-Louisiana League), the Grays Harbor Gulls (WBL), and the Salinas Peppers (WBL). Rex's professional coaching career began with the Grays Harbor Gulls as the hitting and third base coach. After his career led him to Nevada where he coached the Reno Black Jacks, Rex was named the manager for the Feather River Mudcats in Marysville, California. Aside from pitcher, Rex has played every infield and outfield position during his professional playing career.

In 2010, Rex founded T-Rex Baseball Club. His nephew, Jacob Gonzalez, named the organization, which is a point of pride for Rex. Under Rex's coaching, Jacob was drafted to the San Francisco Giants organization in 2017.

Today, Rex continues to lead the T-Rex organization, and is actively involved in the coaching and development of his players. In the Summer of 2018, Rex founded Smash House, fulfilling a longtime goal to own a training facility. To Rex, Smash House is not only a place for the players in the T-Rex Baseball Club, but for anyone who wants to improve their skills and practice the fundamentals of baseball.

Being bilingual and of Cuban descent, Rex works closely with the Arizona Diamondbacks to make charitable trips to border towns in Mexico to donate baseball equipment and direct educational baseball camps for the local youth.
